An Ilorin Area court on Tuesday dissolved the four-year-old marriage between one Toibat Bello and Kazeem Bello over the husband’s smoking habit.
Toibat, 30, a resident of Edun Area, Ilorin, had earlier prayed the court to dissolve her marriage to Kazeem over his ‘uncontrolled smoking habit’.
The plaintiff said that Kazeem was addicted to smoking cigarettes which had permanently left their matrimonial home with offensive odour.
“My husband’s smoking habit is uncontrollable, so worrisome that he smokes cigarettes, even in our bedroom, not minding my presence,” she said.
She told the court that the marriage was contracted in 2009, and had yet to produce any child.
“I have tried my best to caution him but he refused to change and I cannot condone his smoking habit anymore,” said the plaintiff.
On his own, Kazeem, the defendant said: “My wife knew I smoked cigarette before she agreed to marry me; so I cannot just understand why she is now complaining about my smoking habit.”
He, however, urged the court to grant the prayer of the plaintiff.
The presiding Judge, Mr Yusuf Abdulkareem, dissolved the marriage and issued a certificate of divorce to the plaintiff. (NAN

Na wa o! She doesn't want to say the real reason for wanting the divorce. Afterall like the husband said, she knew he was a smoker before they got married. People ve lost sight of what marriage really is- a covenant.
